TOWNSHIP OF BREITUNG MEETING March 22, 2016

Present: Tomsich, Dostert, Tekautz, Gornick, McDonald

REVIEW OF BILLS 5:30 PM

CALL TO ORDER 6:00 pm

APPR0VAL OF MINUTES: 3/23; 3/8; & 3/9

APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S REPORT: Motion by Sup Tekautz, seconded by Sup Dostert to accept treasurer’s report as presented, motion carried 3-0. Frandsen Account: # 39170-#39270. Total Disbursements including checks and debit cards $57,043.03

ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA: Motion by Sup Tekautz, seconded by Sup Dostert to accept agenda, motion carried 3-0.

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION: Follow agenda.

REPORTS

POLICE: Chief Anderson reviewed the monthly report. February was quiet month. P.D. awarded $500.00 from Lake Country Power for the D.A.R.E. program.

Motion by Sup Tekautz, seconded by Sup Dostert to approve the Joint Powers/Mutual AID Agreement Boundary Waters Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, motion carried 3-0.

FIRE: Chairman Tomsich gave update on Tower Breitung Area Fire Rescue progress.

Fire Chief Interviews set up for 3-17-16 at Breitung Fire Hall. 3-29-16 Breitung Fire Hall, expect to choose Fire Chief at meeting. TBAFR Board members are working with Representative Tomassoni’s office on the project plans and costs to the State of MN for funding. Motion by Sup Tekautz, seconded by Sup Dostert to accept the reports as presented, motion carried 3-0.

OLD BUSINESS

Projects:

Booster Pump: Tekautz will contact JPJ regarding installation of the pipes for Booster Pump. Question whether to add chlorine, would need to approval from the Health Dept. Motion by Sup Tekautz, seconded by Sup Dostert to accept the quote $13,650.00 from JK Mechanical Contractors INC regarding installation of pipes, etc. with additional insulation, upon approval from JPJ, motion carried 3-0.

COLD SNAP Technology – WEB design: Mr. Miller sent email that he and his programmer are working on the WEB design and will send an update soon.

Vermilion State Park Drive: Received a draft of proposed entry, visitor registration kiosk area, and parking, etc. Work to begin on this DNR project is this summer and funded 100% by DNR Copy of design at Township Office.

NEW BUSINESS

Culvert complaint on Main St: Received a complaint from home owner regarding culvert. Issues worse in the spring and usually resolved when frost out of ground. Maintenance will follow-up on complaint and observation of culvert.

Reorganization: BIDS for Newspaper:

Tower News – legal bid is for $2.50 per column inch. Display rate $1.95 column inch.

Timberjay News – legal $.089 per column inch. Display ads $2.59 per column inch.

Motion by Supervisor Tekautz, seconded by Sup Tomsich to accept Reorganization changes,

motion carried 3-0.
